Simone Says The Movement Is Bigger Than Any One Snack

After a week of protest, detention expansion, and general authoritarian creep, Simone reminded the flock that real movements cannot be built entirely around crackers.

The sheep were informed this week that Simone has formally declared the movement to be “bigger than any one snack,” a statement widely interpreted as a direct attempt to prevent Marvin from turning a broad civic uprising into a single-issue Triscuit loyalty test.

Speaking from atop a mineral tub she had briefly designated the People’s Platform, Simone said the country is now facing too many overlapping crises to reduce resistance to “crackers, branding, or whatever Bruce and Frankie are trying to monetize at golden hour.” She explained that while Triscuit remains “a valued symbolic partner in the struggle,” the actual movement is about dignity, democracy, labor, immigrant rights, and whether the United States intends to continue its current experiment in grievance-based authoritarianism.

Fancy Pants called the remarks clarifying, noting that recent months have brought a wave of anti-Trump “No Kings” protests across the country, rising alarm over detention expansion, and broader fears that the administration is using immigration enforcement and state power to punish dissent. Janet agreed, though she warned that any movement claiming to be bigger than one snack should still file a proper mission statement and avoid chanting near the compost.

Marvin objected that snacks matter because “every historical movement has had an edible core.” Whitney tried to split the difference by describing Triscuit as “an entry point into collective awakening.” Bruce and Frankie said they supported Simone’s statement but wondered whether the movement could still have branded merchandise, a launch party, and “some kind of immunity necklace for VIP supporters.” At this point, Janet announced that the flock had, in an entirely unofficial capacity, retained Gordon Ramsay as a snack consultant, at which point she said his assessment of the meeting was immediate and brutal: “It’s underseasoned, overbranded, and none of you knows what the dish is.”

The sheep said Simone’s point was hard to miss. In a political environment where power is increasingly enforced through fear, narrative control, and selective punishment, it is tempting to retreat into smaller loyalties, personal brands, and comfort obsessions. But real movements rarely survive that way. They become durable only when people decide the fight is larger than one personality, one slogan, one app, or yes, even one beloved woven wheat snack.

By the end of the meeting, the flock agreed that Triscuit may still be the preferred cracker of the resistance, but the resistance itself must remain open to everyone willing to stand in the field and oppose the larger madness.
