Janet Issues Citation For Unauthorized Use Of Common Sense
After several sheep began using common sense without prior approval, Janet stepped in with citations, corrective notes, and a broader warning about unauthorized judgment.
The sheep were informed this week that Janet has begun issuing citations for unauthorized use of common sense, a move she described as “a necessary correction to the growing problem of freelance judgment.”
According to Janet, the policy became necessary after several members of the flock made immediate and practical observations without first routing them through the appropriate layers of procedure. One sheep reportedly said a gate should remain closed because the sheep were already inside. Another suggested that if groceries cost more and pay stayed the same, people might feel worse. Janet said these remarks, while superficially coherent, had bypassed the approved chain of administrative contemplation.
Fancy Pants called the crackdown “dispiriting but internally consistent.” Marvin said common sense has always posed a threat to larger systems because it arrives without branding, subcommittees, or enough decorative fog. Whitney described the citations as “emotionally overfiled.” Bruce and Frankie asked whether common sense could still be used for outfits.
The flock said the mood felt nationally familiar. Across the country, a great many policies now arrive wrapped in the phrase “common sense,” even when they carry the practical feel of a smoke detector installed by a casino. The larger American style seems to involve taking something direct and human, passing it through six agencies and a press release, and returning it to the public as an official burden with a stronger font.
By sunset, the sheep had reached a broader conclusion. Common sense remains one of the more renewable resources in the pasture. Its main vulnerability appears to be the existence of people who prefer a more expensive route to the same answer. Janet immediately cited that conclusion as well.
