Flock Demands Accessible Grazing For All Body Types And Snack Preferences
With affordability stress rising and food insecurity climbing, the sheep have broadened the conversation by demanding a grazing system that welcomes every body type, pace, and cracker philosophy.
The sheep demanded a more accessible grazing framework this week, arguing that the current pasture model still carries a subtle but persistent bias toward the lean, the brisk, and the overly certain.
According to the flock, the issue is whether the field has been organized in a way that allows different bodies, energy levels, and snack commitments to move through it with equal dignity. Whitney described the current arrangement as “aspirationally inclusive with pockets of avoidable narrowness.” Janet called for a modest redesign of paths, resting areas, and approach angles. Bruce and Frankie supported the effort at once, largely because they believe all public life benefits from better staging and more thoughtful snack flow.
The sheep said the timing made perfect sense. Across the country, food affordability remains a deep public concern. Grocery prices in April 2026 were up nearly 3% from a year earlier, with sharper increases in categories like produce, while the New York Fed recently found a marked rise in food insecurity, especially among lower-income households and families with children. Under those conditions, access becomes more than a design issue. It becomes a question of who a system feels built for.
Simone argued that every pasture eventually reveals its values through layout. Marvin unveiled a hand-drawn map titled “Structural Exclusion in the Lower Meadow” and claimed one gate had “strong legacy assumptions.” Fancy Pants said the larger principle was simple. Healthy institutions make room. Durable systems account for variation. A confident field welcomes the full flock.
By sunset, the sheep had agreed on a new standard. Grazing works best when it offers wide paths, easy pauses, clear access, and enough flexibility to accommodate a large body, a slower gait, or a deeply held Triscuit preference without turning any of it into a character test.

As always, the sheep are thoughtful and wise.
Is it possible that one or more of the sheep (I’m looking at you, Fancy Pants) have slipped off and gone to law school at night?
