Fancy Pants convened an emergency pasture briefing today after concluding that the nation’s growing collection of crises revealed a profound and previously underappreciated need for Fancy Pants.
“There is war, economic anxiety, political instability, and another extremely complicated thing involving Russia,” he said. “Clearly the situation requires more centralized Fancy Pants.”
The flock listened carefully.
With Americans worried about rising costs, conflict abroad, and an increasingly frantic midterm campaign, Fancy Pants explained that periods of uncertainty often reveal which institutions society can truly depend upon.
He then pointed to himself.
Janet asked whether the crisis had exposed any weaknesses in existing leadership.
Fancy Pants thanked her for identifying the need for a new Deputy Office of Fancy Pants Oversight, which he would personally supervise.
Marvin became suspicious.
“So every problem increases your authority?”
Fancy Pants frowned.
“Please avoid politicizing the emergency.”
Simone asked whether expanding wages, healthcare, and housing might address some of the anxiety.
Fancy Pants created a task force to examine her tone.
Bruce and Frankie immediately understood the opportunity. They launched FANCY PANTS: CRISIS EDITION, featuring commemorative hats and a premium livestream called Leadership During These Unprecedented Times.
By afternoon, Fancy Pants had acquired emergency authority over snacks, messaging, pasture security, weather interpretation, and determining when the emergency had ended.
Janet asked when those powers would expire. Fancy Pants looked concerned.
“Why would you weaken leadership during such a dangerous moment?”
The flock exchanged glances. Marvin slowly raised his hoof.
“I think I have identified one of the crises.”
Fancy Pants appointed himself to investigate.

Oh, Marvin...
Obviously the solution always is more Fancy Pants. Governing has never been simpler.
